UK Special Forces Team Arrested In Libya

06.03.2011

An 8-man undercover team of British special forces, thought to be SAS/SBS and MI6 personnel, has been arrested by the Libyan rebels they were sent to assist. Reports indicate that a Chinook helicopter landed a team of MI6 operatives, along with their special forces bodyguards, in the desert near Benghazi, for a planned meeting with members of the forces rebelling against Colonel Gaddafi's regime. A different group of rebels, unaware of the planned meeting and suspicious that the British team were in fact Libyan agents, arrested them at gunpoint.
