SAS Soldier Recalls Prison Rescue Operation

17.09.2012

Nearly 25 years ago, in October 1987, members of D Squadron, 22 SAS stormed a Scottish prison and rescued a prison officer taken hostage by inmates who had rioted and taken over the jail. The Daily Record, yesterday, published a retrospective report on the incident at HM Prison Peterhead, with contributions from Peter Ratcliffe, an SAS veteran who was 2nd-in-command of the SAS unit that carried out the operation.
