Troop cuts to Hit Gurkhas

17.01.2012

The Ministry Of Defence (Mod) today announced plans for a second round of redundancies throughout the armed forces. The Strategic Defence and Security Review calls for significant cuts to troop levels. The Army's fighting force, for example, will be reduced from 100,000 to 82,000 by 2020.

The latest round of cuts, which will cull 4,200 personnel, includes the loss of 400 Gurkhas, 1/8th of the Brigade's strength.
