Royal Marines Photos - COMMACHIO GROUP

Royal Marines from the elite Commachio Group fill out casualty cards following the 1999 Urban Warrior exercise. Urban Warrior 99, was held in the United States. Commandos from Commachio group provided their American counterparts with their invaluable experience gained in urban warfare in Northern Ireland.

Commachio group, now reorganized into the Fleet Protection Group, and are primarily responsible for the security of British Nuclear Deterrent, in the form of Trident submarines. For a period they were also responsbile for maritime counter-terrorism, a task now covered by the Special Boat Service.
