27.02.2012

The Daily Mail has reported that a United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF) team has been deployed to the Falkland Islands. At least 20 Special Air Service and Special Boat Service troops have arrived on the islands, their numbers being built up over a period of weeks, amid rising tensions with Argentina, who maintain a claim of sovereignty over the Falklands.

As Prince William is currently deployed to the Falklands as a search and rescue helicopter pilot, it is believed that one of the UKSF team's tasks is to identify and counter any threats to his personal security. The Prince is reportedly also protected by a team with the Royal Military Police Close Protection Unit .
